A Lake Eustis Record; 37 Boats!!!

2-18-11
Friday

3:00 pm, Kim was able to leave work earlier than expected, and, after a little navigational support to Ryan Malmgren, (on his way from WI!!) we were on the road! Sad to hear that Harry and Carrie Carpenter were not going to make it.

On the road to Eustis, there is some rural country but we noted the large number of Self Storage businesses...hmmmmm, what do they store here? Seems like most people just leave their junk in the yard.

Thought we might beat the GPS estimate of 2 hr and 27 min drive time.. Alas, no, it was right again...We arrived at Lake Eustis SC around 5:30, and gathered the troops for dinner. After a quick boat set-up, off to the Troff. Really, that's how it's spelled. After dinner, we ansiously awaited Ryan's arrival and watched him drive by the club...Quick texting by Tom Lawton brought him back 'round.

Hung out in "The Living Room" (no, we're not in Dunedin...) the space between the RVs, parked at social central. Lintons and Bells are camping in comfort and style.

Saturday

The weather was forecasted to be perfect, near 80 and sun, wind, not so much. We had decided that being warm and out in the sun, on the water was good enough. Good thing too since the wind was really light but after a 45 minute postponement the sequence was on. The first attempt resulted in a general recall, so the RC pulled out the Z flag. That start was better so we were on. The wind probably averaged 3 to 4 so the race took a while but the Lintons cruised to a nice win followed by Marshall Pardey. Many racers ended not finishing in the time limit so there are a mess of 23's on the scoresheet. Back to the club for refreshments!

A little more breeze is likely tomorrow, stay tuned...
